Winning Is the Most Fun!

Dear Frank:

I received your book Casino Craps: Shoot to Win! as a gift. I read it this week because I am going to Dover Downs to play the only game I ever tried to learn.

My wife and I visited Las Vegas every year for the past eight years. I learned to play there four years ago at the Venetian. Last September I won a little at craps by watching and playing with an older and apparently wise gentlemen. I was excited when I returned home so I wanted to play more "to get it out of my system." My neighbor introduced me to Dover Downs and I have been going each month.

In December, I saw some people playing with some control but many, many more random shooters. Most important, I stepped back and started to do some of the things in your book without even knowing it had a name or system. With your book I will be a much wiser player. For me it's just fun and entertainment. Winning a little just allows me to play longer or come more regular for I have always had a "Vacation Fund."

By the way, I had to explain that to one of the dealers. I don't come to win. I'm on vacation and this is entertainment for me. Spend $300 on a show or watch some idiot throw away his rent money? I'm a student of life and I witness that most people will never learn.

A short phrase that I have used since the late 1980s is appropriate here: "Winning is the most fun!"

I realize that you have no interest in becoming an advantage player, that is, a player who can beat the casinos because he has an edge. Still, by betting only low house edge bets, by playing the 5-Count as shown in my book and by having a "vacation fund" you'll be doing the next best thing. I agree with you -- it isn't fun throwing your rent money away.
