Which Blackjack Game Is Better?

10 July 2008

By Frank Scoblete

Dear Frank:

My wife and I recently went to Tunica for the first time, it was a great trip even though we lost a little money. The Craps table was ice cold. The best anyone rolled that I saw was myself when I hit about 8 numbers, but as soon as everything started to go well the 7 reared its ugly head.

There were two different blackjack games we played and I wanted to know which game offered the lowest house advantage. We play basic blackjack strategy, but don't use any card counting methods, yet. So which game offers the lowest house edge. . . double deck blackjack where cards are dealt face down and only shown after the hand is complete, dealer hits a soft 17 and blackjack pays 3 to 2.

Or 6-deck shoe with the only difference cards are dealt face up. We played both, but I wanted to know for next time what game we should focus on more. Thanks for all the great tips.

Brandon

Dear Brandon:

For the non-card counter, the best game is one where the casino cuts off a lot of cards. Look to see games where the casino cuts half the cards out of play. That means the dealers have to shuffle a lot and that wastes time and allows you to get comp time without "money-at-risk" time.

If both the 6-Deck and the 2-Deck have the exact same rules and the exact (or close to it) penetration then the 2-Deck game will be superior for you.

I'd recommend you learn our new Speed Count, the easiest advantage method ever developed for getting a real, mathematical edge at blackjack. This can be found in my book Golden Touch Blackjack Revolution! You might also consider taking our Golden Touch Blackjack class. You can call us at 1-800-944-0406 to buy the book and/or sign up for the class.

For your great letter I am giving you a free 10-day subscription to my private web site at www.goldentouchcraps.com. We have over 5,000 members on this site, many of them blackjack players, and the conversations are lively, enjoyable and interesting. I think you will enjoy it.

All the best in and out of the casinos!
