Gaming GuruScobe's Quick Tips, Series 2: #7 and #8: The Power of the Pen and Comps11 June 2004By Frank Scoblete
Quick Tips #7: The "power of the pen" is a term used to describe those in the casino who have the ability to write comps, for most amounts and to or for just about anything. Usually a host will have a strong power of the pen, as will casino managers and directors. Most pit bosses or floor people have only limited power of the pen. Quick Tips #8: Casinos generally decide what comps you are going to get based on what your "theoretical loss" will be, not how much you've actually lost or won. The formula for deciding this is how much and for how long you play, and what the house edge is on your game or betting style of choice. You then get about 40 percent of your theoretical loss back in the form of comps. This article is provided by the Frank Scoblete Network, John Robison managing editor.
