Scobe's Quick Tip #73
In roulette some casinos allow what is called "surrender" on the outside, even-money bets of Red/Black, Odd/Even, and High/Low.
That means if the 0 or 00 appears, you will only lose one-half of your bet. This reduces the house edge on the American double-zero wheel to 2.63 percent from its normal 5.26 percent.

Scobe's Quick Tip #74
Since both the European single-zero wheel and the American double-zero wheel pay off at 35 to one for a straight up bet, you are much better off playing a wheel that has 37 pockets (European) than 38 pockets (American).
This also holds true for the outside bets.
For example, you have 18 ways to win and 19 ways to lose on the outside bets on the European wheel, whereas you have 18 ways to win but 20 ways to lose on the American wheel.
