Dear Frank,

A few years ago, I purchased your book Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos. I, and a few of my playing friends believe that the five count has helped us greatly.

I understand that in completing the five count in the middle of a progression that includes a made point, you count the next comeout roll in your count, i.e., 6-5-6-11-8-9. In this instance, the 9 becomes my initial come bet, right?

What would happen in the above scenario if a 7 was rolled in place of the 11? Would the count continue because it was in the middle of the progression, or would you start a new count?

Last question, are there any lists for Vegas casinos on what criteria are used for their comp ratings? Some places won't rate less than $25 bets while others will start at $10.

Thanks,
A Reader

Dear Reader:

Last things first. You have to ask about the comps when you call to make reservations to stay or when you approach the table. There are some players' clubs (Mirage, Treasure Island, Desert Inn, etc.) that have a statement on the backs of their cards that stipulates only $25 players get rated.

In the first scenario, you could put up a Pass Line bet after the 11 as the 5-Count is guaranteed to be made since it is the come-out point. Or you can do it after the 8 as you stated. If the 7 had been rolled in place of the 11, it makes no difference. It's a part of the count.

All the best in and out of the casinos!
