Dear Frank,

Do you know of any craps simulators, much like the many blackjack simulators that are available? Any information you can give me about them is greatly appreciated.

Also, I just finished reading Forever Craps, which I enjoyed very much, like all of your books. On my last visit to Las Vegas, I had a roll at the Mirage very similar to the one that you describe in the book. I was in the zone for almost 40 minutes. During that time I hit eactly two 7s, one during a come-out and one that ended the roll. I also only hit 3 garbage numbers (2, 3, 12), two of them before sevening out. Clearly I had lost my rhythm at that point. I had a little time before I had to leave, so I stayed at the table until the dice came to me again, and I had another good roll of 25 minutes. I am a definite believer in rhythmic rolling.

Thanks in advance,
Carl

Dear Carl:

Congratulations on your two great rolls. Although I've never had a better one than the one I wrote about in Forever Craps, I have hit the 20-35 minute mark on a number of occasions. I work on my rolls very carefully. There's little doubt in my mind that some people are "rhythmic rollers." I had the privilege of witnessing one of Sharpshooter's students roll them bones recently and a more beautiful set and delivery I have never seen. Of course, not every roll will be epic, and we'll occasionally tank, but our average over time will make us winners.

As far as software goes, I am going to leave that up to John Robison. I am not a big software person and I have rarely used simulations for craps.

All the best in and out of the casinos!

Dear Carl:

I did a quick search for craps simulators on the Internet. I found one called CrapSim at www.conjelco.com. I've never used it myself, but it sounds familiar. I think I've read of other people using it to test their systems.

John Robison
