Dear Frank:
Your articles are priceless, thanks for all the help at the tables. I have a quick question about the 5-count that I think I know the answer to but need a positive answer: Say the shooter gets to the 5-count, I place a bet on the Come then he rolls a three. Even though I lose in this situation, do I hold at the 5-count and continue to place bets on the Come until he sevens out?
Thanks,
Keith
Dear Keith:
You have it exactly right. Even though you are a two-to-one favorite when you put a Come bet up (eight ways to win on the 7 and 11 and only four ways to lose on the 2, 3, and 12), those craps numbers do appear half the time. You just go right back up with another Come bet if that happens. The seven out is the end of it all obviously.
The 5-Count will eliminate 57 percent of all random rolls - which is a great thing - and it will keep you in the game for the big rolls and for any controlled shooters who might be around. You can check out Dr. Catlin's study of the 5-Count at http://www.goldentouchcraps.com/proof.shtml

All the best in and out of the casinos!
