Gaming Guru
Hi Frank,
In regards to my first e-mail which I referred to your book Spin Roulette Gold on pages 204 and 205 on number frequency. Well I play Golden Palace.com for fun money. I spun the wheel 3800 time to see how many times 00-1-8-10-12-19-25-27-29-31 come up. These are the numbers indicated in your book.
It is based on a one dollar bet to make it simple. The results are: 3800 spins and 1024 hits with a net loss of $1,136. I don't know how accurate this is since it is on the internet and not at a live casino table. I'm sure if you had place ten different casino tables the results would also be different each time.
Even at a live table: The big problem of losing is that you bet every spin of the wheel and there is no way in heaven to win. There isn't much of a chance to win in the end with 3800 spins using the same numbers. Plus when betting 10 numbers you will always lose nine bets. Another factor is to win on an individual number, the percentages is .0237% to win and the casino's percentage to beat you is 97.63%. The other factor you are betting ten numbers against thirty-eight numbers. The result is 73.69% in favor of the casino. All the roulette books that I read of yester-years ago have no benefit for the player to win even though they say you can't win as the casino has the 5.263% edge. Depending how you play, the casino has all of the above mention percentages stacked in their pocket.
I love roulette. As Bob Ripley would say, "Believe it or not." Your books playing the craps games are no doubt real winners because you found ways to beat the system of casino percentages. Plus you have many followers which prove the results.
One day I will try the game. I'm waiting for the roulette tables to be install in Pa as I hate the drive to AC 3 1/2 hours.
Stay healthy Frank, see ya,
Jaggy
Dear Jaggy:
Thanks for your letter. Roulette is a rough game and the house percentage is big, coming in at 5.26 percent. But at crowded tables the game slows down and that helps preserve your bankroll. Also, there is no law that you have to bet every spin.
All the best in and out of the casinos!
Frank
