Hi Frank:
I have been a follower of yours for the last three years after I learned how to play craps, which I think is the best game in the casino. I always use the 5-Count and most times it has really saved me from big losses.
I don't have the big bankrolls like many people. In fact, if I have more than $30 at risk, I get so nervous that I have no fun and I go to the casino to have some fun.
I have a question. Mathematically what is better? For me to use the supersystem with $10 odds on three numbers, use the supersystem with $15 odds on two numbers, just betting come with $10 odds, or at $12 on the 6 and 8? I usually play at a $5 minimum table with 10x odds.
Just a quick comment, I really have enjoyed your craps books and have followed much of the advice like a 401G account (which is doing pretty good too!!) and using the 5-Count. Someday I hope to be able to take the class and get a practice rig for shooting!
Thank you again and I look forward to your thoughts on my question.
Brian
Dear Brian:
I am glad you have enjoyed my books. I have a new one coming out this spring titled Casino Craps: Shoot to Win! which will be the most complete book ever written on craps — from regular player to advantage player. It will be published by Triumph Books, a division of Random House.
Now as to your question. The best mathematical way to play is to make a minimum pass line bet and back it with what you can afford in odds. So at a 10x odds game — and with your aversion to betting more than $30 — do a $5 pass line and back it with $10 or $15 in odds ($16 on the 5 and 9). You're expectation will be to lose just 7 cents per wager. Just make one wager.
Skip the Supersystem — that just increases the amount you are betting into the house edge. The Placing of the 6 and 8 for $12 each gives you an expectation of losing about 18 cents per wager and about 36 cents combining them.
Now, you realize that the only way to beat the game of craps is to develop a controlled throw.
I am giving you a free 30-day subscription to my private members-only website at www.goldentouchcraps.com. We have over 5,000 members on this site and I think you will enjoy it.
All the best in and out of the casinos!
