Help for Throwing the Dice at a Half Table

Dear Frank:

I go to this casino where they take a 14-foot table and make it a half table. I stand 1SR which puts me about 6 feet from the back wall. I'm right handed so my throw is different than I'm used to. Would the backspin be different? Also would the height of the dice be different when released?

Thanks for help with the books and DVD. The practice table is great.

Dear Jim:

Since I can't see your throw, you will have to do some "back engineering" to decide whether your throw is good or not so good. Based on your throw when you play at this half table, are the following happening:

1. Do your dice stay together in the air?
2. When they land do they hit the back wall gently since they have lost most of their energy into the felt?
3. Do they finish up relatively close to each other (six inches or so)?

If the answer to all of these questions is "yes" then just do what you have been doing. If the answer to any one, two or all three is "no," then you must experiment with your throw. Reduce the spins; ease up on your arm swing; decrease the energy you are giving the dice.
