Do I Really Have to Wait for the 5-Count?

29 December 2005

By Frank Scoblete

Dear Frank,

I read your book, Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos: How to Play Craps and Win! I feel I should always be playing the pass line instead of waiting for the 5-Count to be over. But you still feel different. Please help me. I'm torn.

Thanks,
Brian

Dear Brian:

The 5-Count will reduce the number of random rolls you're wagering on by 57 percent. This is a fact and two gaming mathematicians have verified this fact. If you have the updated version of the above book, there is a chapter on the 5-Count that goes through what it can (and can't do). If you are betting the pass line on all shooters, each bet on the random ones will cost you about 7 cents per five-dollars wagered.

Since I have been using the 5-Count for many years now, I swear by it. If you have to bet on random rollers, eliminating 57 percent of their rolls is a great thing.

So follow the book and do it my way!
