Dear Mr. Scoblete:
How much money do you need to buy in at the craps table to play at a $10 table with 20x odds? I like to play 3 or 4 bets (some Come bets and Place bets). What do you recommend to get started with?
Thanks,
Joe
Dear Joe:
In my opinion, a single session bankroll should be 10 times the amount of the monetary spread you use. So if you have three numbers working, you have a total amount at risk of $630 if you use Come bets. The amount could be more or less if you use Place bets.
With four numbers working, just add another $210 to the total spread and you are risking $840.
My general rule of thumb is to have 10 times your spread per session, so you would need between $6,300 and $8,400. Now, those odds bets are break even bets so in the long run your risk is really only $30 or $40 on the Pass and Come. But the variability of the game is so great that it is best to lump all the money together for one or a few sessions.
