Frank,
I read all of your articles in Casino City and Santa is bringing me one of your craps books for Christmas. After 30 or so years playing blackjack, I finally got the nerve to try craps. It is no doubt the most exciting game in the casino and I am hooked on it. Blackjack is so sedate compared to craps that I only play it when I get hammered at craps or just want to relax and have a drink and a good cigar. I usually play 6-8 and the come line unless the shooter has been stinking up the table. Then I bet against him or play a minimal come bet with no odds.
My question is: Is there a "No FOUR" bet, where you bet single rolls that the FOUR doesn't come up. If so, how do you ask for the bet? I assume it is a lay bet because of the high advantage you would have. Secondly, is it a good bet?
Thanks again for the informative and entertaining articles.
Jack
Hi Jack:
The "No 4" (or No 10) lay bet can be made as follows. You put out $41 in order to win $19. The house edge is 2.44 percent, which is not too bad. Obviously these Darkside bets are not as good as a don't pass or a don't come (approximately 1.4 percent without odds and in the fractions of a percent when you lay the odds).
Go to this site: http://www.goldentouchcraps.com/houseedgechart.shtml and you will find the house edges for just about all the bets in the game of craps.
I would also recommend that you use the 5-Count when you play as this will reduce the number of random rolls you wager on by 57 percent. In addition, as a Darkside bettor, only bet one bet against the same shooter. In this way, no hot shooter can nail you with a long roll. If you lose the bet against a shooter, wait until the next shooter before you bet again.
I am giving you a free one-month membership to our private web site at www.goldentouchcraps.com.
All the best in and out of the casinos.
