Dear David: All dealers and all box people are different. The majority of the dealers are friendly and professional, though a slight minority are ploppies, which means they are unfriendly, unconcerned and rude. Box people can be the same way. Most box people do not share in the dealers' tips. Yes, some box people tend to think of the casinos' money as their own personal money and are horrified if a player wins, especially a player who has some skill with the dice. Yet, you will get many box people who enjoy the game and act as if they are rooting for the players to win. The dynamic between dealers and box people is hard to characterize since these relationships are on a one-to-one basis. If the box person is a ploppy and the dealers are friendly and professional, then the dealers are probably in a continual state of annoyance. The reverse can also be true, ploppy dealers and a professional box person. As far as being nervous when you try to execute a controlled throw, that is typical of new and relatively new players. The more you play, the more relaxed you'll be. After awhile, you won't even notice the dealers or the box person -- unless they are nasty and annoying you. If that happens, take your chips and leave for greener pastures. I am giving you a free 30-day subscription to my private member's only web site at www.goldentouchcraps.com.
