A Simple Question about the 5 Count

Dear Frank,

I have a very simple question to ask about the 5 count.

What happens or what is the count if the fifth throw is 2, 3 or 11 and not a point, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10?

Do I wait until a point is made to start betting? Why if the dice show a 2, 3 or 11 you don't count it as the fifth throw?

I know it's a simple question, the reasoning just isn't clear to me yet.

Dear Don:

If on the fifth roll a non-point number (2, 3, 11, 12) is rolled you are at the 4-Count and holding. The 5-Count is not completed unless a point number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10) is rolled. Remember this is point numbers, not actual points. The Captain is looking for repeating numbers and that is why he does not go up on the garbage numbers with those high house edges. In truth, the 5-Count is the way to eliminate 57 percent of all the random rollers. You'll only be betting on 43 percent of them.
